Time-based one-time passwords for LiSC firewall
The LiSC firewall uses your username and a one-time factor to authenticate requests for temporary network access. Time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) can be used to enable temporary network access to the Life Science Compute Cluster. They provide an alternative factor for the verification of access requests, instead of the one-time link via e-mail.
We recommend that you configure one-time passwords even if when you only occasionally use LiSC from external networks. One-time passwords can be comfortable and are particularly useful when e-mail delivery to your mail provider should be delayed or disturbed. Having one-time passwords configured, you can choose for every firewall activation if you want to use them or if you prefer the one-time link via e-mail.
One-time passwords are most secure when they are generated on separate (usually mobile) devices. Free apps, such as FreeOTP or Google Authenticator, are available for this purpose.
Configure one-time passwords for LiSC firewall
Use the form below to activate or deactivate the LiSC firewall one-time passwords for your username. If you have activated them before, a new activation will replace your previous secret.
When you submit this form, an e-mail will be sent to you. Use the one-time link in this e-mail to complete your request. An e-mail for a deactivation request will be only sent if one-time passwords are currently activated for your username.
Warning Your secret information will be shown only once. You will get your secret QR code by using the one-time link that you will receive via e-mail. For security reasons, you cannot display the secret QR code later again. The LiSC helpdesk team has no access to your secret. In case you have lost the configuration of your authenticator app, just use the form below to activate a new secret QR code and reconfigure your authenticator app.
